Miller Park SafeGround
SafeGround is a safe camping and safe parking program operated by First Step Communities in partnership with the City of Sacramento. SafeGround fills the gap between the high demand for shelter and the shortage in supply of shelter and transitional housing resources.
Service Highlights
The dedicated SafeGround Case Managers play a crucial role in guiding individuals on their journey out of homelessness. Working closely with clients, they assess their unique needs and facilitate connections to appropriate shelter options. They provide invaluable assistance during the initial stabilization phase and collaborate on setting achievable goals to ensure a successful transition away from homelessness.
At SafeGround, all clients have daily access to essential amenities such as meals, showers, and restrooms. Our staff is available around 24/7 to provide continuous support. SafeGround serves as a safe haven, bridging the gap in shelter availability by meeting these fundamental needs. We recognize that building a sense of community is a crucial aspect of our mission, fostering a supportive environment as we fulfill these needs.
Wellness without Walls, a mobile health clinic operated by Sacramento County Public Health, brings critical clinical services to SafeGround through regular visits. In harmony with Wellness without Walls' mission, our partnership aims to enhance access to healthcare and provide valuable education to an underserved population.
The Sacramento Mental Health Access Team visits our site twice a week, conducting assessments that serve as a bridge to essential mental health services. This valuable initiative removes yet another barrier, ensuring that our clients can seamlessly access the vital support they require.
